Brett Johnson & Neiman Marcus

"To launch at Neiman Marcus has truly been a dream of mine for some time and I think to have success very early on is great but for now, we just gotta work even harder."

26 year-old Brett Johnson will enter the fashion industry with a new line of Italian made menswear collection. The collection will be debuted by Neiman Marcus in various trunk shows nationwide this season.  Johnson never attended a fashion institution and credits his inspiration to family trips to Tuscany, Italy. The journey to the Brett Johnson Collection--which came out commercially in 2013-- started with alterations to Johnson's Air Force 1's. As a kid he would source various leathers and fabrics from all the world and with the help of a cobbler in NYC, he began taking an iconic shoes and making his own unique creations. Eventually he started selling his revamped Air Forces for $295. He told NBC news, "To launch at Neiman Marcus has truly been a dream of mine for some time and I think to have success very early on is a great but for now, we just gotta work even harder."

Over the years he became more interested in fashion and clothing which has led to his 24 piece line ranging from $295-$595 for knitwear and $995 to $2945 for outwear. When considering the price, Johnson explains how his products are manufactured in the same factories as some of our beloved fashion houses: Louis Vuitton, Balmain, and Lanvin. Compared to the competition, with the same quality, customers are receiving quite a deal. It's funny how a little creativity when we are younger can blossom into so much more. I love reading different stories--fashion testimonies I like to call them-- about designers and their beginner projects. To understand where someone is going you have to understand where they came from. I am interested to see how the who collection turns out and which celebrities will be seen wearing it (hope you guys enjoy the sneak peeks I managed to find!).

What crafts in younger years propelled your creativity? How do other designers stories inspire your fashion journey?
