5 of the Best Places to Eat in Arizona
I’m the definition of a foodie! I love trying out new restaurants and experiencing new dishes. When I started traveling more, I made it a point to start documenting all the yummy things I ate. Last year I shared my meals from my Houston trip and today I will be sharing what I ate in Arizona!
After our sunrise hike at Doe Mt. we had a craving for some waffles. Being girls from the south we wanted Waffle House. This little mom & pop shop ended up being right what the doctor ordered. I’m not a picky eater and I can’t name a lot of foods that I don’t like. When it comes to breakfast, I love waffles. I’m almost persuaded that waffles are better than pancakes, but don’t quote me on that. We both got Belgian waffles with bacon as a side. The waffles were buttery and crisp on the edges like I like it. I got melon as an extra side, thinking I’d received it sliced. Nope! It was literally a melon cut in half (haha)! It was delicious and refreshing.
This local restaurant not only has a tasty menu but amazing views as well! It was nice in Sedona so we decided to sit outside. While scanning the menu, I saw something interesting that caught my eye. A Portobello mushroom sandwich. Even when I’m on vacation I still try to eat clean because it’s too hard to get back on track after it ends. I’ve recently fallen back in love with mushrooms, so this was a gamble for me, but once I took a bite I didn’t regret it one bit! Aside from the mushrooms, the sandwich had avocado, clover sprouts, arugula, tomatoes, crispy onions, and garlic aioli on a bolillo bun. It was as delicious as it sounds and changed my mind about mushrooms entirely.
My meal was so good from Wildflower Bread Company! I was legitimately hurt when I found out they were only located in Arizona. This was another healthy meal, I hope you guys are proud of me. It comes from their pick 2 option, like Panera Bread. I opted for a half of a BLT plus and a wildflower salad. What is a BLT plus you might ask? Only the best sandwich I’ve ever had in life. It takes the BLT we know and love to another level, simply by adding avocado. The wildflower salad was a mix of field greens, tomatoes, carrots, celery, jicama, red peppers, onions, sunflower seeds, and lavender with a cilantro-lime vinaigrette. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of this meal. I was so hungry but I do regret it. It was truly a spectacular dish and I meant to grab it again on our way out of Sedona. This restaurant is a must-visit!
I went to Arizona to celebrate my best friend’s 25th birthday. Since we are in a long-distance friendship, it is hard to stay up to date with the current things going on in our lives. I was so happy that her new beau could join us for lunch and Urban Margarita is a place they ate before and knew I would love. I told you guys that I love tacos and they did not disappoint. I got three tacos: carne asada, shrimp taco, and a classic, Baja fish taco. My go-to side with tacos is beans with a little bit of cheese on the top. I loved this place for the rustic environment and the unique flavors of the food. My shrimp tacos had mangoes on top with matched up nicely with the bold flavors coming from the shrimp.
Tacos are my go-to dish for lunch and I had them twice while I was in Arizona. The second time was at Elote Café. I got Baja fish tacos and they were immaculate. Even someone who may not be a huge fan of tacos, but likes seafood would love a Baja fish taco. I for one am a huge taco fan! I would participate in taco Tuesday every Tuesday if I could! If you’ve read my previous foodie posts on Bar Taco then you know that I eat their Baja fish taco often. It was right on par with what I’ve experienced in the past, if not better. The fish was crunchy and the saw was delicious. They had so many different options on the menu. The service was also amazing. Elote Café gets an A+ in my book!
When you’re hiking mountains and running trails you deserve a sweet treat! Pussycat Gelato was the perfect thing to cool us down after walking through the Arizona heat. I had a strong craving for something sweet, so we stopped by the #1 place for gelato! I got kiwi and prickly pear flavor. I learned when I was in Arizona that there’s prickly pear flavor everything, and it was delicious! If you need to chill out while you’re in Sedona, this is the place to be!
This is it guys, the last of my Arizona blog series! You’re either super excited or sad to see it go. I am definitely the latter. However, I will be going to Chicago soon so stay tuned for a guide on the windy city! I hope you guys enjoyed this mini food guide! If you’re ever in the area stop by and tell them I sent you. Your meal will be amazing and you won’t regret it!
