When you think you’re completely in control, life has a way of reminding you that you’re not! As some of you know, I’ve recently made the switch from Blogger to WordPress. WordPress is a completely different beast. I’m learning and re-learning while I stick to this content consistency challenge.
I had my week planned out with meetings to discuss new projects and to create content. Until I woke up on Tuesday with a blistering headache. This painful inconvenience threw off my schedule for the week and I ended up losing a whole day’s worth of work. We all have days when things don’t go to plan, here are my top two ways I encourage myself to get back to the grind!
Give Yourself Grace
Nobody is on their A-game every single day. It’s not humanly possible. I’m one that will feel terrible after an unproductive day. Just yesterday I had a migraine that took me out for the whole entire day. I didn’t feel semi-normal until the evening.
Today I woke up wanting to take on the world but also felt dejected that my to-do list seemed twice as long. I spent most of the day focused on the things I didn’t get done. I should’ve appreciated the extra rest that allowed my body to heal.
You’re no good to anyone when you’re spent. We’ve all heard the saying “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Take the time to rest. If you feel terrible, take the day. You can always try tomorrow!
Make a Plan
After I lost a whole day, I started to focus on the items I had to complete on my Google tasks checklist. I love using Google tasks. Every time I check off an item to complete it, it disappears. It makes me feel like I’m actually getting things done.
As I looked back at my completed items, I realized that I actually accomplished more than I thought I did. It’s okay to regroup and move things around. As a planner, I hate when things go, well anything other than according to plan. I decided to rest but made the most of the opportunities I had today.
Learn to be flexible and re-adjust your plan when necessary. Don’t be afraid to come back to your schedule and re-write the whole thing. Life can be unpredictable!
Let’s keep in mind that social media is only the highlight reel of our lives. It may seem like people are always on-the-go, trying new things, and putting out content, but don’t let it fool you. We all have bad days and setbacks. So keep pushing despite what life throws at ya!
How do you bounce back from a bad or unproductive day?
